Regular Season Round 11: Panathinaikos - Galatasaray 85-58
Date: December 9, 2016
Very predictable result in Athens where seventh ranked Greek Panathinaikos (6-5) smashed bottom-ranked Turkish Galatasaray (3-8) 85-58. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Panathinaikos had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American-Czech swingman Blake Schilb (201-83, college: Loyola, IL) answered with 15 points and American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Galatasaray. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Panathinaikos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anadolu Efes. Galatasaray at the other side dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galatasaray will play at home against Armani Milano (#13) and hope to win that game.
