Regular Season Round 6: Villeneuve - CCC Polkowice 75-55

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Polish CCC Polkowice (0-6) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked French Villeneuve D'Ascq (3-3) 75-55 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 46-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 19 CCC Polkowice turnovers. Strangely CCC Polkowice outrebounded Villeneuve D'Ascq 49-23 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who scored 37 points (!!!). Forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Russian power forward Raisa Musina (191-98) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 21 rebounds and Croatian center Marija Rezan (198-89) added 14 points and 16 rebounds respectively. Four CCC Polkowice players scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fifth place in Group B. Loser CCC Polkowice still closes the standings with six games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will face higher ranked MKB Euroleasing (#4) in Sopron in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CCC Polkowice will play at home against the league's leader UMMC Ekaterinburg (#1) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
