Very expected game when 15th ranked Italian Armani Milano (4-10) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (6-8) 89-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by FC Barcelona. Armani Milano was better in fourth quarter 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Barcelona looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Armani Milano's players. Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 10 points and 11 assists during the contest. Four FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. American swingman Rakim Sanders (193-89, college: Fairfield) responded with 27 points and American-Georgian guard Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) scored 8 points and 8 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Armani Milano lost seventh consecutive game. Defending Italian champion dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. FC Barcelona will face higher ranked Darussafaka (#7) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armani Milano will play at home against Zalgiris (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
