The game between closely ranked teams ended with 15th ranked Italian Armani Milano's (4-11) home loss to fourteenth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (6-9) 70-78 on Thursday. Armani Milano was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zalgiris made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Armani Milano turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Armani Milano was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Rakim Sanders (193-89, college: Fairfield) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and American-Georgian guard Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) added 15 points respectively. Four Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Brose Bask. and Unics. Armani Milano lost eighth consecutive game. Defending Italian champion keeps the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Zalgiris will face higher ranked Crvena Zvezda (#10) in Beograd in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armani Milano will play on the road against Fenerbahce (#7) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
