Regular Season Round 8: Lattes Montp. - Mersin BSB 76-63

Bottom-ranked Turkish Mersin BSB (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked French Lattes Montpellier (5-3) 76-63. The game was mostly controlled by Lattes Montpellier. Mersin BSB was better in fourth quarter 20-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mersin BSB 35-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Lattes Montpellier players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Gabonese-French power forward Geraldine Robert (183-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Lattes Montpellier players scored in double figures. Lattes Montpellier's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian center Gintare Petronyte (196-89) replied with 20 points and American guard Danielle Robinson (178-89, college: Oklahoma) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mersin BSB. Defending French champion maintains fourth position in Group A with 5-3 record. Mersin BSB at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Lattes Montpellier's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul and it may be the game of the week. Mersin BSB will play at home against the league's leader Dynamo Kursk (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
