There was a minor upset when 10th ranked German Brose Baskets (7-10) were defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Russian Unics Kazan (7-10) 63-58 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 17-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American-Mexican point guard Paul Stoll (180-85) chipped in 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian point guard Janis Strelnieks (191-89) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Darius Miller (202-90, college: Kentucky) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Unics Kazan moved-up to tenth place, which they share with FC Barcelona and Brose Bask. Unics Kazan will face higher ranked Darussafaka (#7) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
