Regular Season Round 19: EA7 Armani - Olympiacos 99-83

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Greek Olympiacos (13-6) against sixteenth ranked Italian Armani Milano (6-13) on Wednesday night. Visiting Olympiacos were defeated by Armani Milano in Milano 99-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Olympiacos. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Armani Milano dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Olympiacos' 42 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Armani Milano looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Croatian swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85) who led the winners and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Davide Pascolo (201-90) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Five Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Forward Kostas Papanikolaou (206-90) came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian center Khem Birch (208-92, college: UNLV) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Olympiacos in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Italian champion moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Galatasaray. Defending Greek champion Olympiacos keep the third position with six games lost. Armani Milano will meet league's leader Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olympiacos will play against Brose Baskets and hope to secure a win.
