Regular Season Round 19: Anadolu Efes - Darussafaka 93-81

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Anadolu Efes (9-10) beat 8th ranked Darussafaka (10-9) in Istanbul 93-81 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. Darussafaka was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Darussafaka outrebounded Anadolu Efes 40-27 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Anadolu Efes made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 assists. American guard Brandon Paul (193-91, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) answered with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Croatian power forward Ante Zizic (210-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 16 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for Darussafaka. Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes maintains ninth place with 9-10 record. Darussafaka at the other side keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Anadolu Efes will face league's second-placed CSKA in Moscow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
