Regular Season Round 10: Familia Schio - Wisla Can-Pack 80-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Italian Familia Schio's (5-5) home victory over 6th ranked Polish Wisla Can-Pack (2-8) 80-54 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Familia Schio. Wisla Can-Pack was better in third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Wisla Can-Pack 48-25 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Familia Schio especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was a very good performance for forward Laura Macchi (188-79) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Cecilia Zandalasini (183-96) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Familia Schio players scored in double figures. Familia Schio had such big advantage that coach felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (192-85, college: Hofstra, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Belgian point guard Hind Ben Abdelkader (172-95, college: California) added 17 points in the effort for Wisla Can-Pack. Defending Italian champion maintains fifth position in Group A with 5-5 record. Wisla Can-Pack lost fourth consecutive game. Defending Polish champion keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Familia Schio will face bottom-ranked Mersin BSB (#8) on the road in the next round. Wisla Can-Pack will play against UNI Gyor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
