Regular Season Round 20: CSKA - Anadolu Efes 80-77
Date: January 27, 2017
Ninth-ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (9-11) gave a tough game to second ranked Russian CSKA (15-5) in Moscow. CSKA managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-15 Anadolu Efes' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 80-77 at the end of the game. CSKA made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American power forward Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and French Nando De Colo (196-87) supported him with 14 points and 4 assists. Four CSKA players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 4 assists by French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Anadolu Efes. American forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending Russian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid. Anadolu Efes at the other side keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. CSKA will play against Fenerbahce (#4) in Istanbul in the next round. Anadolu Efes will play on the road against Crvena Zvezda (#5) in Beograd and hope to get back on the winning track.
