Regular Season Round 11: Wisla Can-Pack - UNI Gyor 66-47

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Hungarian UNI Gyor's (1-10) road loss to sixth ranked Polish Wisla Can-Pack (3-8) 47-66 on Wednesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Wisla Can-Pack dominated on the defensive end, holding UNI Gyor to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Wisla Can-Pack had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (192-85, college: Hofstra, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. Spanish point guard Sandra Ygueravide (172-84) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Wisla Can-Pack players scored in double figures. Guard Zsofia Simon (181-89, agency: Interperformances) responded with 10 points and 4 assists and Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-95) scored 12 points. UNI Gyor's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Polish champion maintains sixth place in Group A with 3-8 record. UNI Gyor lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Wisla Can-Pack will face higher ranked Fenerbahce (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UNI Gyor will play at home against Mersin BSB (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
