Regular Season Round 11: Lattes Montp. - USK Praha 55-58

The most exciting game of round 11 in the Euroleague took place in Lattes. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed French Lattes Montpellier (6-5) to second ranked Czech USK Praha (9-2) 58-55 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lattes Montpellier. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-6. But Lattes Montpellier won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when USK Praha won last quarter 10-9. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lattes Montpellier to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Lattes Montpellier 46-25 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Spanish guard Laia Palau (177-79) helped adding 6 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Elodie Godin (191-85) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Gaelle Skrela (177-83) scored 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. USK Praha have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending Czech champion maintains second place in Group A with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Dynamo K. Defending French champion Lattes Montpellier keeps the fourth position with five games lost. USK Praha are looking forward to face league's leader Dynamo Kursk at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lattes Montpellier will play against Familia Schio and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
