Regular Season Round 23: CSKA - Maccabi T-A 93-81
Date: February 23, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Moscow where 13th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (8-15) was defeated by second ranked Russian CSKA (17-6) 93-81 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by CSKA. Maccabi T-A was better in second period 34-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. CSKA looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for French Nando De-Colo (196-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American power forward Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. CSKA's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) responded with 19 points and American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Russian champion maintains second place with 17-6 record behind leader Real Madrid. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. CSKA will face FC Barcelona (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi T-A will play against Olympiacos and hope to win that game.
