Regular Season Round 23: Panathinaikos - Unics 83-82

Fourteenth-ranked Russian Unics Kazan (7-16) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Greek Panathinaikos (14-9) in Athens. Panathinaikos managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. Unics Kazan was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 31-21 charge of Panathinaikos, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) saved the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. Center Ioannis Bourousis (214-83) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) answered with 21 points and 7 assists and the other American import Latavius Williams (203-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Unics Kazan. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They maintain fifth place with 14-9 record. Unics Kazan lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be Darussafaka (#9) in Istanbul. Unics Kazan will play at home against Anadolu Efes (#7) and hope to win that game.
