The game in Istanbul was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Spanish Baskonia (12-11) played at the court of eighth ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (12-11). Anadolu Efes defeated Baskonia 96-85 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. Baskonia managed to win fourth quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists. American-Armenian center Bryant Dunston (203-86) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Hungarian Adam Hanga (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 20 points and German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) added 10 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Anadolu Efes and four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anadolu Efes. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Baskonia. Baskonia lost their third game in a row. Anadolu Efes will meet Unics Kazan (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia will play against Armani Milano (#14) and hope to secure a win.
