Regular Season Round 24: Zalgiris - Fenerbahce 67-76
Date: March 2, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Kaunas where 10th ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (10-14) were defeated by fourth ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (16-8) 76-67 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 46-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and American-Turkish point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: BeoBasket) who added 12 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Paulius Jankunas (205-84) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Fenerbahce went down to fifth position due to points difference. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris keep the tenth place with 14 games lost. Fenerbahce will meet at home Baskonia (#8) in the next round. Zalgiris will play against Panathinaikos and hope to secure a win.
