The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Spanish Real Madrid as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Real Madrid smashed 5th ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda at home 98-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Crvena Zvezda. The game without a history. Real Madrid led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 61.0 percent from the field. Real Madrid outrebounded Crvena Zvezda 33-22 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Crvena Zvezda's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St.) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Sergio Llull (190-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists for the winners. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Montenegrin-Serbian power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 9 points and 8 rebounds and forward Marko Simonovic (201-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points in the effort for Crvena Zvezda. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with CSKA. Defending Serbian champion Crvena Zvezda keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Panathinaikos and Baskonia. Crvena Zvezda will play next round against Armani Milano trying to get back on the winning streak. Real Madrid will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Panathinaikos in Athens.
