Regular Season Round 28: Baskonia - Panathinaikos 63-72

Round 28 most important game was a victory of Greek Panathinaikos over 6th ranked Spanish Baskonia 72-63 on Thursday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Baskonia. Baskonia trailed by 16 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 26-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-72 at the end of the game. Panathinaikos dominated on the defensive end, holding Baskonia to just 6 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) contributed with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Hungarian Adam Hanga (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Baskonia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Baskonia at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Anadolu Efes. Panathinaikos is looking forward to face league's second-placed CSKA in Moscow in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Baskonia will play on the road against Galatasaray (#13) in Istanbul and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
