The game between 13th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (10-18) and tenth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (13-15) in Tel-Aviv on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Kaunas beat Maccabi T-A 93-77. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi T-A's 28. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for Paulius Jankunas (205-84) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. American forward Victor Rudd (205-91, college: S.Florida) replied with 16 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Maccabi T-A. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains tenth position with 13-15 record. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the twelfth place with 18 games lost. Zalgiris will face Armani Milano (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi T-A will play against FC Barcelona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
