Regular Season Round 29: Crvena Zvezda - Unics 83-65

Very expected game in Beograd where 16th ranked Russian Unics Kazan (7-22) was defeated by eighth ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (16-13) 83-65 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-65. Crvena Zvezda made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Unics Kazan turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Crvena Zvezda especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Marko Guduric (196-95, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Montenegrin-Serbian power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 19 points. Five Crvena Zvezda players scored in double figures. Spanish point guard Joaquin Colom (188-88, college: Forca Lleida, agency: Interperformances) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) scored 16 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Serbian champion maintains eighth place with 16-13 record. Unics Kazan lost twelfth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 22 games lost. Crvena Zvezda will face Darussafaka (#9) in Istanbul in the next round. Unics Kazan will play on the road against Armani Milano (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
