There was a minor upset when Spanish Unicaja Malaga (1-2) was defeated at home by German Brose Baskets (1-2) 80-76 on Wednesday. Unicaja Malaga was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 26-18 charge of Brose Baskets, which allowed them to win the game. They made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American Augustine Rubit (201-89, college: S.Alabama) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American-Georgian Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 18 points. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian point guard Nemanja Nedovic (191-91, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 26 points and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Unicaja Malaga's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Brose Baskets will face Baskonia (#16) in Vitoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
