Regular Season Round 4: Castors Braine - Galatasaray 71-72

Date: November 1, 2017
A very interesting game took place in Braine. It ended with only one-point home defeat of bottom-ranked Belgian Castors Braine (0-4) to fourth ranked Turkish Galatasaray (3-1) 72-71 on Wednesday evening. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. The winners were led by Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) supported her with 21 points. Even a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by American center Celeste Trahan-Davis (186-85, college: Elizabeth City, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Castors Braine. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) added 19 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Castors Braine's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Galatasaray have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Sopron Basket. Defending Belgian champion Castors Braine still closes the standings with four games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be CCC Polkowice (#6) at home. Castors Braine will play against the league's second-placed Sopron Basket and hopes to get finally their first victory.
