Regular Season Round 4: Villeneuve - Sopron Basket 73-83

Another exciting game was between third ranked Hungarian Sopron Basket and one of their biggest challengers French Villeneuve D'Ascq where Sopron Basket (3-1) beat Villeneuve D'Ascq (2-2) on the road 83-73. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. It looked good early as Villeneuve D'Ascq took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sopron Basket had a 21-16 second period charge getting the lead and Villeneuve D'Ascq was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-83. Sopron Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Serbian Jelena Milovanovic (189-89, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga-Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85) added 16 points in the effort for Villeneuve D'Ascq. Five Sopron Basket and four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Defending Hungarian champion moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Galatasaray. Defending French champion Villeneuve D'Ascq dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with USK Praha. Sopron Basket will play against Castors Braine (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play against USK Praha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
