Important game to mention about took place in Moscow. Fourth ranked Russian CSKA (4-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 9th ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (2-3) 94-91 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Zalgiris cut a 15-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. CSKA made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Zalgiris were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. French Nando De-Colo (196-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 assists for the winners and American Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists. Serbian point guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 20 points and 7 assists and guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CSKA have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending Russian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris keep the ninth place with three games lost. CSKA will face Valencia Basket (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zalgiris will play against Armani Milano and hope to win that game.
