Regular Season Round 6: FC Barcelona - Anadolu Efes 85-89

Turkish Anadolu Efes can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (2-4) on the road game in Barcelona 89-85 on Thursday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-15. But FC Barcelona won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). American swingman Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 12 points and 9 assists and French center Kevin Seraphin (208-89) added 19 points respectively. Four FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. FC Barcelona's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Anadolu Efes (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with EA7 Armani and Baskonia. Loser FC Barcelona dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Anadolu Efes will face higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#3) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
