Regular Season Round 7: Baskonia - Real Madrid 105-75

There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Baskonia (4-3) rolled over higher ranked Real Madrid (5-2) in Vitoria 105-75 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Baskonia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Baskonia outrebounded Real Madrid 35-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Real Madrid was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 assists. French guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) answered with 18 points and 4 assists and Cape Verdean-Spanish center Edy Tavares (220-92) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Real Madrid. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baskonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Brose Bask. Loser Real Madrid dropped to the second position with two games lost. Baskonia will face Zalgiris (#13) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Madrid will play at home against Unicaja Malaga (#10) and hope to win that game.
