Regular Season Round 5: Sopron Basket - Castors Braine 83-59
Date: November 22, 2017
Bottom-ranked Belgian Castors Braine is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to second ranked Hungarian Sopron Basket (4-1) 83-59 on Wednesday evening. The game without a history. Sopron Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Castors Braine's 34. Sopron Basket forced 21 Castors Braine turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Her fellow American import guard Yvonne Turner (176-87, college: Nebraska, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Sopron Basket players scored in double figures. Serbian-Bosnian center Nikolina Milic (191-94, agency: LBM Management) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Antonia Delaere (180-94) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Castors Braine. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Hungarian champion maintains second place in Group A with 4-1 record behind leader Dynamo K. Castors Braine lost their fifth game in a row. Defending Belgian champion still closes the standings with five games lost. Sopron Basket will face USK Praha (#4) at home in the next round. Castors Braine will play against CCC Polkowice (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
