Regular Season Round 9: FC Barcelona - Maccabi T-A 89-67

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (4-5) smashed at home 4th placed Israeli Maccabi T-A (5-4) 89-67 on Thursday. The game without a history. FC Barcelona led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. FC Barcelona had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Rakim Sanders (196-89, college: Fairfield) who scored 18 points. French center Kevin Seraphin (208-89) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Hungarian swingman DeAndre Kane (195-89, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Baskonia. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. FC Barcelona will face league's leader CSKA in Moscow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play at home against Zalgiris (#32) and hope to win that game.
