Regular Season Round 9: Unicaja - CSKA 80-89

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Malaga. Leader Russian CSKA faced bottom-ranked Spanish Unicaja Malaga. Guests from Moscow (0-0) defeated host Unicaja Malaga (0-0) 89-80. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 26-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists. French Nando De-Colo (196-87) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward James Augustine (208-84, college: Illinois) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Carlos Suarez (203-86, agency: Court Side) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Unicaja Malaga. Five CSKA and four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Unicaja Malaga's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory CSKA went down to first position due to points difference, which they share with 31 other teams including defeated Unicaja Malaga. CSKA will play against FC Barcelona (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Unicaja Malaga will play against Panathinaikos (#25) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.
