Regular Season Round 12: Valencia - Crvena Zvezda 82-86

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Spanish Valencia Basket (3-9) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (5-7) 86-82 on Friday. Valencia Basket was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 30-19 charge of Crvena Zvezda, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Valencia Basket was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American James Feldeine (193-88, college: Quinnipiac) who scored 26 points and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Montenegrin-Serbian power forward Milko Bjelica (207-84, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 4 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Fernando San-Emeterio (199-84) who recorded 17 points and German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Crvena Zvezda have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Serbian champion maintains eleventh position with 5-7 record. Valencia Basket lost eighth consecutive game. Defending Spanish champion dropped to the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Crvena Zvezda will face higher ranked Fenerbahce (#4) in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Valencia Basket will play on the road against Real Madrid (#10) and hope to win that game.
