Regular Season Round 14: Brose Bask. - Real Madrid 66-81

9th ranked German Brose Baskets (6-8) were defeated at home by eighth ranked Spanish Real Madrid (8-6) with the biggest margin this round 81-66 on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Brose Baskets was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid made 20-of-20 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Real Madrid outrebounded Brose Baskets 37-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Trey Thompkins (208-90, college: Georgia) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Guard Maodo Lo (191-92, college: Columbia) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and American-Italian guard Daniel Hackett (199-87, college: USC) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Khimki. Defending German champion Brose Baskets dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Real Madrid will face higher ranked Fenerbahce (#5) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Brose Baskets will play on the road against Anadolu Efes (#15) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
