Regular Season Round 14: Anadolu Efes - Olympiacos 58-61

Fifteenth-ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (3-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Greek Olympiacos (11-3) in Istanbul on Friday. The visitors from Pireus managed to secure only three-point victory 61-58. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Anadolu Efes won third quarter 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: BeoBasket) scored 12 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Croatian swingman Krunoslav Simon (197-85) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Olympiacos maintains first position with 11-3 record, which they share with CSKA. Anadolu Efes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Valencia. Olympiacos is looking forward to face Zalgiris (#4) in Kaunas in the next round. Anadolu Efes will play at home against Brose Baskets (#10) and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
