There was a minor upset when 5th ranked French Villeneuve D'Ascq (4-6) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Belgian Castors Braine (3-7) 77-61 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Castors Braine led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American center Celeste Trahan-Davis (186-85, college: Elizabeth City, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Four Castors Braine players scored in double figures. Castors Braine's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (182-90) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Marielle Amant (190-89) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Defending Belgian champion maintains seventh position in Group A with 3-7 record. Defending French champion Villeneuve D'Ascq keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Castors Braine will face higher ranked Galatasaray (#5) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play on the road against Sopron Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
