Regular Season Round 16: Panathinaikos - Anadolu Efes 90-79

Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (4-12) lost to fourth ranked Greek Panathinaikos (11-5) in Athens 79-90. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Anadolu Efes was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Anadolu Efes outrebounded Panathinaikos 29-16 including 20 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Panathinaikos players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) fired 17 points and 9 assists for the winners. Nikos Pappas (194-90) chipped in 16 points. Panathinaikos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Josh Adams (188-93, college: Wyoming) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and American-Armenian center Bryant Dunston (203-86) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Defending Greek champion moved-up to third place. Anadolu Efes at the other side keep the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be FC Barcelona (#13) at home and are hoping to win another game. Anadolu Efes will play against Crvena Zvezda and hope to win that game.
