Regular Season Round 16: Crvena Zvezda - Zalgiris 77-65

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Lithuanian Zalgiris (10-6) and Serbian Crvena Zvezda (7-9), which took place in Beograd. Higher ranked Zalgiris lost to twelfth ranked Crvena Zvezda in a road game 65-77. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Zalgiris. It looked good early as Zalgiris took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Crvena Zvezda had a 17-13 second period charge getting the lead and Zalgiris were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-77. Crvena Zvezda made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Dejan Davidovac (202-95, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 13 points. Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) produced 19 points and 7 rebounds and American Aaron White (206-92, college: Iowa) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Serbian champion moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Baskonia and Unicaja. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris keep the fourth position with six games lost. Crvena Zvezda's next round opponent will be Anadolu Efes (#15) in Istanbul where they are favorite. Zalgiris will play at home against Unicaja Malaga (#10) and hope to win that game.
