Regular Season Round 17: Maccabi T-A - Brose Bask. 90-88

A very interesting game took place in Tel-Aviv. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked German Brose Baskets (6-11) to eighth ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (9-8) 90-88 on Thursday evening. Brose Baskets were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 51-47 second half run of Maccabi T-A. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Maccabi T-A brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Brose Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points. Australian power forward Jonah Bolden (208-96, college: UCLA) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. American-Georgian Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Dejan Musli (213-91) added 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Brose Baskets. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Maccabi T-A moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Khimki. Brose Baskets lost their fifth game in a row. Defending German champion keep the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A's next round opponent will be higher ranked Olympiacos (#3) in Pireus and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brose Baskets will play at home against Zalgiris (#6) and hope to win that game.
