Regular Season Round 18: Fenerbahce - Panathinaikos 67-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Istanbul between third ranked Greek Panathinaikos (12-6) and fifth ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (12-6) on Wednesday night. Panathinaikos were defeated by Fenerbahce in a tough game on the road 62-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 20-12 charge of Fenerbahce, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) who scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively. Panathinaikos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Real Madrid and Panathinaikos. Fenerbahce's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Anadolu Efes.
