Regular Season Round 18: Real Madrid - Baskonia 75-73

Ninth-ranked Baskonia (8-10) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Real Madrid (12-6). Real Madrid managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Baskonia was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Real Madrid forced 19 Baskonia turnovers. American forward Trey Thompkins (208-90, college: Georgia) notched 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) supported him with 12 points. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by French guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88) did not help to save the game for Baskonia. American guard Matt Janning (195-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 10 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Real Madrid have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce. Baskonia at the other side keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Real Madrid's next round opponent will be Unicaja Malaga (#11) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia will play against Armani Milano and hope to win that game.
