Regular Season Round 18: CSKA - Anadolu Efes 110-79

Russian leader CSKA delivered the fourteenth victory on Wednesday night. This time they crushed 15th ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes (5-13) 110-79 in Moscow. The game was mostly controlled by CSKA. Anadolu Efes managed to win second period 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSKA shot 61.5 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. CSKA looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Anadolu Efes' players. French Nando De-Colo (196-87) scored 15 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Cory Higgins (196-89, college: Colorado) chipped in 21 points during the contest (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four CSKA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and Australian power forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St.) scored 19 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Russian champion maintains first position with 14-4 record. Anadolu Efes at the other side dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with EA7 Armani. CSKA will meet Panathinaikos (#5) in the next round. Anadolu Efes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Fenerbahce.
