Date: January 26, 2018
Very expected game when 15th ranked Italian Armani Milano (6-14) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (11-9) 111-102 on Friday. Armani Milano trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 32-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 102-111 at the end of the game. Maccabi T-A shot 63.5 percent from the field and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi T-A especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Armani Milano was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: Cleveland St.) who added 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. American-FYR Macedonian point guard Jordan Theodore (182-89, college: Seton Hall) responded with 22 points and Lithuanian power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Armani Milano's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maccabi T-A moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Khimki. Loser Armani Milano keeps the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Maccabi T-A will face higher ranked Zalgiris (#6) in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armani Milano will play on the road against FC Barcelona (#12) and hope to win that game.
