There was no surprise in Istanbul where 14th ranked Italian Armani Milano (7-16) was outplayed by third ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (16-7) 89-70 on Thursday. The game without a history. Fenerbahce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Armani Milano's 30. It was a great shooting night for Fenerbahce especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Greek point guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) who scored 13 points and 6 assists. American guard Brad Wanamaker (193-89, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) produced 19 points and 4 assists and point guard Andrea Cinciarini (193-86) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Olympiacos. Loser Armani Milano keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. They share it with FC Barcelona. Fenerbahce will meet Real Madrid (#4) on the road in the next round. Armani Milano will play against Anadolu Efes (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
