Regular Season Round 23: CSKA - Baskonia 93-86

Euroleague top team - Russian CSKA (18-5) added another victory to their record on Thursday. This time they beat ninth ranked Spanish Baskonia (10-13) in Moscow 93-86. Baskonia was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. CSKA made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Baskonia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American Will Clyburn (201-90, college: Iowa St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Spanish point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) helped adding 17 points. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (189-89) responded with 26 points and 5 assists and Georgian Tornike Shengelia (206-91) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four CSKA and five Baskonia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Russian champion maintains first place with 18-5 record. Baskonia at the other side keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Unicaja. CSKA are looking forward to face Maccabi T-A (#8) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia will play at home against Khimki and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
