Regular Season Round 23: Khimki - Panathinaikos 78-61
Date: February 23, 2018
The game in Khimki was also worth to mention about. 4th placed Greek Panathinaikos (14-9) played at the court of sixth ranked Russian Khimki (14-9). Khimki did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 78-61. The game without a history. Khimki led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 4 assists. American forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) accounted for 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) came up with 11 points and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) added 14 points respectively for Panathinaikos in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Khimki have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Panathinaikos. Khimki will play against Baskonia (#9) in Vitoria in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panathinaikos will play at home against the league's second-placed Olympiacos (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
