Regular Season Round 24: Zalgiris - FC Barcelona 90-74

Not a big story in a game in Kaunas where 15th ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (7-17) was defeated by seventh ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (15-9) 90-74 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. FC Barcelona managed to win fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of French swingman Axel Toupane (197-92, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) who added 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Victor Claver (207-88) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to fourth place. FC Barcelona lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home higher ranked Fenerbahce (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. FC Barcelona will play against Crvena Zvezda (#11) and hope to secure a win.
