Venezia just barely escaped upset as they lost by five points but win on aggregate against Mersin BSB. It looked good early as Venezia took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mersin BSB had a 19-16 second period charge getting the lead and Venezia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-65. They outrebounded Venezia 45-24 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (187-95) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) supported her with 19 points and 6 assists. Even 25 points by American point guard Riquna Williams (170-90, college: Miami, FL) did not help to save the game for Venezia. American-Romanian power forward Ashley Walker (187-87, college: California) added 9 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts.
