Very important is a home loss of second ranked Greek Olympiacos (18-8) against fifteenth ranked Spanish FC Barcelona (9-17) on Thursday night. Host Olympiacos were crushed by FC Barcelona in Pireus 90-63. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Olympiacos. The game was mostly controlled by FC Barcelona. Olympiacos managed to win second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Barcelona dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Olympiacos' 28 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Olympiacos 48-35 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. French Adrien Moerman (202-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Five FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. American power forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Georgios Printezis (204-85, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with EA7 Armani and Valencia. Loser Olympiacos keep the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. FC Barcelona will meet higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olympiacos will play against the league's leader CSKA (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
