Regular Season Round 26: Fenerbahce - CSKA 79-81

The most exciting game of round 26 in the Euroleague took place in Istanbul. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Turkish Fenerbahce (18-8) to first ranked Russian CSKA (21-5) 81-79 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 27-21 charge of CSKA, which allowed them to win the game. French Nando De-Colo (196-87) scored 13 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Andrey Vorontsevich (207-87) chipped in 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. Five CSKA players scored in double figures. CSKA's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Czech power forward Jan Vesely (213-90) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) scored 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). CSKA have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Russian champion maintains first position with 21-5 record. Defending Turkish champion Fenerbahce keeps the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with Olympiacos. CSKA are looking forward to face league's second-placed Olympiacos in Pireus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fenerbahce will play at home against Maccabi T-A and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
