Regular Season Round 27: Valencia - Real Madrid 96-88

We should mention about the upset which took place in Valencia, where 4th placed Real Madrid (16-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Valencia Basket (10-17) in a road game 88-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Real Madrid won fourth quarter 28-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 7 rebounds. German center Tibor Pleiss (217-89) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 assists and American forward Trey Thompkins (208-90, college: Georgia) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Real Madrid. Five Valencia Basket and four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Spanish champion moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Brose Bask. Real Madrid at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Valencia Basket will play against Armani Milano (#14) on the road in the next round. Real Madrid will play against Zalgiris (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
