Regular Season Round 28: Maccabi T-A - Panathinaikos 75-76

Important game to mention about took place in Tel-Aviv. Sixth ranked Greek Panathinaikos (17-11) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (13-15) 76-75 on Thursday evening. Maccabi T-A was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 20-17 charge of Panathinaikos, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Maccabi T-A 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 4 assists and center Ian Vougioukas (212-85, college: St.Louis) who added 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. At the losing side American-Hungarian swingman DeAndre Kane (195-89, college: Iowa St., agency: BeoBasket) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panathinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Greek champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Real Madrid. Maccabi T-A lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 15 games lost. Panathinaikos will play against Valencia Basket (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi T-A will play against Baskonia in Vitoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
