The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Russian CSKA (23-6) in Kaunas on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (17-12) 85-73. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of CSKA. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. CSKA managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by CSKA helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and American center Brandon Davies (208-91, college: BYU, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. French Nando De-Colo (196-87) responded with 18 points and American power forward Kyle Hines (198-86, agency: BeoBasket) scored 12 points. CSKA's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains sixth place with 17-12 record. Defending Russian champion CSKA still keeps top position with six games lost. Zalgiris are looking forward to face higher ranked Olympiacos (#3) in Pireus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CSKA will play at home against Crvena Zvezda and is hoping to win this game.
